September 9th PM
We're off to Inverness, well Merkinch to be precise, we like the walk along the Caledonian Canal to the Beauly Firth but first, a bite to eat in the Jammy Piece.
It's a beautiful day so we set off across Clachnaharry Rd and along the East side of the canal just chatting and relaxing until we get to the wee path that drops down to Merkinch Local Nature Reserve, a lovely wee wetlands area that can get full of birds but today only shared a Curlew, Little Grebes and a Goosander and we only walked to the railway line then back, it was roasting in the shelter of the bushes along the track but, back onto the canal path and a cooling breeze.

I didn't get a shot of the Goosander but the I did of the Little Grebes, not even noticing the female until I put the camera down.

Didn't see much else but we had a lovely walk, keeping an eye on some wet weather coming in from the West, just made it back to the car as it started pouring.

We had a nice wander around Inverness for an hour or so then headed home. A quiet afternoon was had before deciding to walk along the shore to the fort around tea time, it was blowing a hoolie out there, onshore wind so the windsurfers were out and having a ball. I had the "big boy" on the camera so often difficult to get a wide shot but for close up, great.

I am sailing

As you can see, I got a fair few shots of this guy out there. it was blowing a hoollie out there. must be exhausting but exhilarating.
It wasn't the brightest of evenings but the sun popped out now and again, low evening sunlight is wonderful

Spotted!

We headed back towards the village around 5:30 and walked back via the road and across the sports field into the green roadie, a lovely evening walk.
